It is important that before any styling takes place, you begin with a great shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo and conditioner will be your foundation prior to styling your hair. It is equal to beginning your make-up routine with a healthy moisturizer and primer prior to applying your foundation to your face. You will want to start with a good quality shampoo and conditioner. I find that products that are moisturizing are helpful in keeping the frizzies away and are one of the ways to keep your hair from looking dry and brittle, especially if you heat style often.
Shampoo:
One of my favorite shampoo and conditioner combinations is from Aveda. The Aveda Cherry Almond Softening Shampoo is wonderful for anyone with normal to dry hair. It is very lightweight and smells amazing! My hair is always tangle-free and soft to the touch. This shampoo has healthy oils in its ingredient list and can be used often without weighing your hair down.
Conditioner:
An excellent conditioner to pair with this shampoo is also by Aveda. It’s the Sap Moss Conditioner. This conditioner is extremely hydrating and the best part is that it does not weigh your hair down or make it stringy. It’s silicone-free and has more of an earthy fragrance to it. If your hair is dry and frizzy then this is a conditioner you should definitely give a try. You can also use it often because it will not weigh your hair down.
Leave-In Conditioner:
Using a light leave-in helps to keep your hair moisturized and also keeps the frizz under control. The coarser your hair the heavier a leave-in you can use; however, it is not always necessary to go with a heavier leave-in conditioner particularly if you will be applying more products. I have really enjoyed using the Noughty Brand Thirst Aid Spray. It is extremely moisturizing and I like that you can spray it into your wet hair. It spreads evenly when applied. I love that it has sweet almond oil and argan oil and smells great! My hair consistently looks better when using this product. I think you will find that it is light on your hair, has excellent ingredients and it won’t break the bank!
Styling Product:
Lately, I have been enjoying blowing out my hair with a round brush and I found that Bumble and Bumble’s Bb Straight Blow Dry is spectacular. It leaves your hair smooth, soft and full of shine. A little goes a long way so you don’t need a lot of product. I have 2c, 3a curly hair and this product does the trick in achieving my salon-style blow out with less effort. I highly recommend it!
Finishing Product:
If you live in an environment prone to humidity and want to add shine to your hair, then I suggest Aveda’s Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade. This product will repel moisture from your hair and keep it from becoming a frizzy mess. However, a little goes a long way with this pomade. To achieve the best results place a little bit of product into your palm, emulsify then spread throughout your hair. This product is an oldie but goodie! It has been around for a while and does not disappoint!
You certainly cannot go wrong with either one of these products or all 5 of them. Drop me a comment below if you have tried any of these products or if you plan on purchasing some of them.
