Many of us have some degree of texture to our hair. Although, I enjoy embracing my curls, I like to change my hairstyle. I am a product junkie and love shopping for all types of hair products. If you could look underneath my bathroom sink, you would see an array of hair products from a variety of brands and at different price points. I have selected five products will are sure to give you a killer blowout!
Shampoo and Conditioner
The process for a great blowout begins in the shower. I use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner since my hair is prone to dryness and is very porous. The Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner by Alterna are two of my favorites. The shampoo is creamy, lathers well, and smells amazing! The conditioner is equally luxurious with a wonderful slip and very rich. These products will go along way because you do not need a large amount to cleanse and condition your hair.
It's Time to Prep Your Hair
In order to prepare you hair for blow drying, a leave in conditioner that will protect your hair against heat is critical. Don’t skip the leave-in! Additionally, I use a cream that will aide in smoothing out my hair cuticle and reduces frizz.
My current favorite is Aveda’s, Nutriplenish Leave-In. This is a light weight conditioner that is sprayed onto the hair and protects your hair up to 450 degrees. It is a winner of the 2020 Glamour Beauty Awards and Women’s Health “Editor’s Choice” for Best Leave-In Conditioners in 2020. It is free from silicones, sulfates cleaners, parabens, gluten, mineral oil and petroleum.
The blowout cream I most frequently use is Bumble and Bumble’s Straight Blow Dry Creme. It also protects hair from heat while working to prevent frizz and blocking out humidity. This cream is the bomb! The cream extremely effective and keeps my hair from frizzing in an extremely humid climate. These two products work so effectively together and I highly recommend them.
The Hair Dryer and the Brush
I am fortunate to have a Dyson blow dryer. I love using it! If you prefer a lower price point, then purchase a hair dryer with several heat setting and speeds. The various heat and speed settings will help you control the amount of heat while maximizing air flow.
I use the Spornette 270 round brush. It is a 2 1/2 inch ceramic barrel and makes blowouts a cinch. I have had mine for years and it is still my favorite brush out of the many brushes I own. It is also reasonably priced compared to other ceramic brushes.
Finishing Touch
My final step whether I am wearing my hair curly or blown out is a finishing product that will seal the hair and block out moisture and humidity. Aveda’s Anti-Humiticant Pomade is perfect for the task. It has been around for decades and I always replace it when I run out. If you live in a humid climate and want incredible shine, then this is the product for you!
These 5 products work amazingly well to protect your hair, reduce frizz and seal your hair. If you have any products that you would like recommend because they are your tried and true, please drop them down in the comments below!
